About Us

The CMHA offers house league hockey for players between the ages of 4 - 21 living within the Canterbury boundaries of Southeast Ottawa. CMHA offers house league hockey in the following divisions:  U7 (IP), U9 (fNovice), U11 (Atom), U13 (Peewee), U15 (Bantam), U18 (Midget), and U21 (Juvenile).

The Canterbury Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) has been involved in Ottawa for over 30 years. We are a voluntary non-profit association created to provide our community with opportunities to:
  • play house league hockey
  • develop hockey skills with an emphasis on sportsmanship and the principles or fair play
  • develop leadership skills and community spirit
  • emphasize the importance of teamwork
  • emphasize respect for safety
  • learn respect for others (teammates, coaches, volunteers, officials, parents, spectators, arena staff)
  • have FUN!
CMHA seeks to promote and increase interest in house league hockey by ensuring that all organized minor hockey is conducted under the guidance of the governing bodies in accordance with the prescribed standards.  The CMHA is part of Bytown District (aka District B) which is a minor hockey member of Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO).  HEO is one of 13 members branches in  Hockey Canada, the national governing body of ice hockey in Canada.  Hockey Canada is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

CMHA is one of 5 associations in the Bytown Minor Hockey League (BMHL) along with: Southend, Ottawa East, Ottawa Centre, and Westend Minor Hockey Associations. In normal times, (without the pandemic) the 5 associations in the BMHL collaborate to form a game schedule for the season and hold playoffs at the end of every season. Seasons typically run from October to March with assessments in September (during normal times)

For Competitive Hockey:
Players who live within the Canterbury boundaries may opt to play competitive hockey with the Ottawa Sting Minor Hockey Association.
